failed bypass

Posted in Group:

Hello:
I'm a 49 year old female with an anomalous right coronary artery sandwiched between the aorta and pulmonary artery. I underwent double cardiac bypass surgery 4 years ago and recently started having exertional chest discomfort again. I underwent cardiac catheterization yesterday and that revealed that the CABG for the right coronary artery failed. My body liked the path it had made for itself and it went back to that subsequent to the CABG.

So now my physicians just want to "treat" this with medication and are against bypass redo. I can understand the "reasoning" behind this, but it scares me to death and makes me leery of any exertion. I'm an active person and wanted to embark on a vigorous exercise program for weight loss. Now I'm afraid to do anything because I experience chest discomfort (tightness) just when walking. I'm certainly fearful of sudden cardiac death.

Has anyone else experience bypass failure and/or an anomalous coronary artery of this origin?

I would definately consider getting a second opinion from a specialist! If you are uncomfortable with this medical plan than they need to at least give you a very good explanation as to why you need to go this way and what lifestyle restrictions it will necessitate.
